Matt presenting his seminar to IMEM-CNR
Our Detector Development group leader travelled to Parma, Italy to visit IMEM-CNR, part of Italy's National Research Council. Matt presented his seminar "Development of X-ray Detectors at STFC" to materials scientists and engineers from IMEM and their spin-out company Due2Labs.

Technology shares common research interests with IMEM and Due2Labs, such as understanding high-Z X-ray detector materials and their behaviour.

Matt said:

“It was great to see the IMEM-CNR facilities and the X-ray instruments developed by Due2Labs. There is a big overlap between our work at STFC and areas we are looking to collaborate and work together, such as on CdZnTe detector material and hyperspectral X-ray detectors. We're looking forward to starting this work with a PhD student who will come on a 6-month placement to RAL from September [2023] and explore the use of machine learning in hyperspectral X-ray imaging."
