Team UK competes at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

28 Sep 2026

Congratulations, Team UK! We are incredibly proud of our apprentice, Peter Jenkins, for representing the UK in Robotics System Integration at WorldSkills International Shanghai 2026.

From receiving a build-your-own robotic arm for Christmas as a child to succeeding in the gruelling 6-hour WorldSkills UK qualifier, Peter’s journey to the competition finals has been a long time coming.

While training for the “skills Olympics”, Peter has worked and studied as an Apprentice Mechanical Engineering Technician at Daresbury Laboratory.

His role in supporting engineering work on high-profile international projects, like CERN’s latest upgrade, has prepared him for the precision and skill needed to excel in this head-to-head competition.

At the WorldSkills finals, Peter and his teammate Pratham Lohia placed 13th out of 20 teams. This remarkable achievement showcases the incredible quality of talent championed here at STFC.
